Jeremy Fry
Our Story.
This private hamlet was abandoned soon after the First World War, discovered in the 60’s by an intrepid Englishman, Jeremy Fry, rescued from ruin and has been in the same family ever since. Now his bohemian legacy lives on with a new generation.
Totally secluded, perched high overlooking the Luberon and Henri Cartier Bresson lived and worked in the area, Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources were both shot locally and the nest french lavender is harvested, distilled and sold at the road side. In the 80’s writings of Peter Mayle from the hilltop villages of Menebres and Saignon overlooking Apt prompted a new wave of interest in the area.
For many years, the property served as a community for famous artists and intellectuals who wanted to work away from distractions. Reportedly, fashion heroes as well as actors have spent time here. Pens that created Shakespeare in Love and Fatal Attraction have also rested on desks here. The shelves are filled with works left as thank-you’s – for long Summers spent betweeen the pool and workshops.
